Solar Hot Water ( Solar Thermal* ) Systems * The term "Solar Thermal" refers to the capturing of heat from the sun into some medium so that the heat can be stored or immediately applied for some useful purpose such as heating water for a laundry or air for a living space.
Make Mine Solar H2O program: Twin City area residents can now participate in a program that provides affordable installations of solar thermal systems. Through bulk purchase discounts, state rebates and federal incentives, this program, organized by the MN Renewable Energy Society (MRES), can reduce the cost of a Solar Domestic Hot Water System by about 50%! Aladdin Solar is a trained and approved installer in this program.

1. Solar Thermal Systems: SOLAR DOMESTIC HOT WATER (SDHW)
The Domestic Hot Water System illustrated here uses closed loop to heat a water/glycol mixture. The energy absorbed by that mixture is transferred to household water by a heat exchanger, reducing or eliminating the energy required to run the existing hot water heater.
2. Solar Thermal Systems: SOLAR SPACE HEATING (Water)
The heat transfer medium in this system is a water/glycol mixture but the heat exchange is from the heated liquid to the air space. Solar Thermal works well with radiant in-floor heating systems. Heat can also be transferred to the space by moving room air across radiators.
