Every solar site has unique features and limitations which affect installation costs. Every system owner has unique current and future needs and budget restraints. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to system design and installation. Each Aladdin Solar renewable energy system is designed and installed specifically to meet the owner's needs and to be appropriate for the site. Price ranges shown here are for installed residential systems in the Midwest and are based on information provided by the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA).

This Fronius IG3000 grid-tie inverter converts the DC power created by the array of PV modules to the same high quality AC voltage and frequency provided by the utility company. On the right is a standard DC disconnect required with most installations (turns off power from the PV panels if necessary). Between the two is an optional meter for easy-to-read cumulative production totals. One of the options with this Fronius inverter is a wireless meter system which can be placed anywhere on the site for remote monitoring.

DON'T FORGET THERE IS A 30% FEDERAL TAX CREDIT AND OFTEN
OTHER STATE AND UTILITY REBATES AVAILABLE WHICH CAN
SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCE YOUR NET COST!

High quality PV modules installed as part of a residential solar electric system in Minnesota. Renewable energy systems like this reduce utility bills and protect against rising energy rates.

Grid-tied PV Systems (Battery-Free)

$6-9 per watt or $6,000 - $9,000 per KW
(before reductions from tax credits, rebates, etc.)
EXAMPLE: A typical 2.5KW system (2500 watts of PV panels or about 10-12 panels, approx 250 square feet) would cost in the range of $17,500 - $20,000 before the 30% Federal Tax Credit and any other MN or utility rebates. After consideration of the Federal Tax Credit alone, the net cost drops to $12,000- $14,000. Other rebates and incentives may apply which would further lower the true cost.

Grid-tied with Battery Backup

$9-12 per watt or $9,000 - $12,000 per KW
(before reductions from tax credits, rebates, etc.)
EXAMPLE: The installed cost of a moderately sized 3.5KW grid-tied system (3500 watts of PV panels or about 14-20 panels, approx 350 square feet) with batteries set up to power selected backup circuits would be $31,500 - $42,000 before the 30% Federal Tax Credit and any other MN or utility rebates. Application of the Federal Tax Credit here reduces the net cost to $22.000 - $30,000. Here again, other rebates and incentives may apply which would further lower the actual cost of the system.

Off-Grid/Stand-Alone PV Systems

$12-16+ per watt or $12,000 - $16,000+ per KW (before reductions from tax credits, rebates, etc.)
EXAMPLE: These systems are much more complex and diverse depending on energy usage, autonomy requirements and backup systems employed. A bare-bones 2KW PV system (2000 watts of PV panels or about 8-12 panels, approx 200 square feet) with a large battery bank would come in the range of $24,000 - $32,000 gross cost before the 30% Federal Tax Credit and any other MN or utility rebates. The cost of this sample system after reductions by the Federal Tax Credit drops to $17,000 - $22,000. Other rebates and incentives may apply which would further lower the net cost.
